ESPN is another sports magazine but their covers are different from the ones I have previously looked at. Each issue features only one athlete, similar to the others, but it is a close up of the athletes face. They all have a serious look on their face giving the magazine an intense vibe at first glance. The ESPN title is largely printed on each issue in the same place. Using the same red color and font for every issue, they establish a 'signature' look to their magazine. Just like all of the other magazines I have analyzed there are mini subheadings displayed on the cover in order to grab the readers attention and keep them interested throughout the whole magazine.

Sports Illustrated is a magazine which features a variety of sports and their statistics throughout the season. They incorporate articles about famous athletes and interviews with them.  The cover of each issue has the same titles font and layout. Small article headings are added to grab the readers attention. In this specific issue, there is a professional soccer player, Carli Lloyd, holding a trophy which tells you that her team, or her as an individual, is good at their sport.  Sports Illustrated has approximately 21 million adult readers every week. They are 'the most respected in sports journalism.'  In the bottom corner of the magazine cover, there is a bar code. This is something for me to keep in mind when I create my own issue of a sports magazine.

The Sporting News magazine features a different athlete from varying sports every issue. The cover is largely covered by a single athlete and every issue has the same title font and similar red/pink color. A caption for the cover picture is largely displayed next to the athlete, which I plan to implement into my magazine as well. My group is going to use the same title font and color across the board to establish a formal and united appearance. The subtitle band across the top of the page is another element I will add to my own magazine. This magazine also has small headings for related articles distributed across the front page, and then has those articles spread out in the magazine. I plan to have some mini subheading on my cover as well to introduce new ideas and spark the readers interest in my magazine. Sporting News magazine covers a variety of sports, whereas I will only mention 1.

My group plans to do a magazine based on our high school athletic teams.  Each of us would create an issue on a different sports team at Sarasota High School. My personal plan is to create an issue on the cross country and track season and the teams. Runner's World is a magazine that solely focuses on running. They releases a new issue every  month. The cover has 1 athlete who covers 1/3 of the page and the title is the same on each issue. Every months magazine covers a different topic that is stated at the very top of the cover, above the titles. For example one edition is "Best Shoes and Gear of 2018" and another one is "Weight Loss Special".  All of the magazines are about running, but each on focuses on a different aspect of running and/or training. surrounding the athlete on the cover are mini subheading for smaller articles that are found in the magazine. Based on my personal interests, I think the magazine project would best fit me. I enjoy photography which appears to be a relevant element of this project. Taking pictures of different people and situations would be very entertaining. Writing is not difficult for me and i enjoy writing small articles. The only part of the magazine project that may be difficult for me is the interview part. I am somewhat shy around people that I don't know, so the interviews could be a bit of a struggle. Based on what we have learned in class, the magazine looks like a fun project to work on with a group. When we did our magazine analysis i got lots of ideas for my own magazine and how it should be laid out. The sample magazine/blog posts peaked my interests.

After analyzing many films and watching the behind the scenes, the film project seems like a difficult task. There is so many different things and people you have to manage at one time. I like to use my creativity, so writing the script wouldn't be a struggle. My friends would likely volunteer to play the lead roles in my film as well. Ont the other hand, this project could be challenging for me due to the editing skills that I do not possess. Stitching together all of the different takes would be tough. In the behind the scenes of Ferris Bueller's Day Off, we saw many challenges they faced while producing the film, including the availability of actors/actresses. Even with a group I feel that this project wouldn't be ideal for me personally.

My final decision is to create the magazine project instead of the film project. The magazine looks to be a better fit for my abilities. I have decent writing skills which will be put to good use in this project. Some of the main determining factors in my decision were the facts that i have no film experience, and i enjoy photography. My current idea for the project is an SHS athletics magazine. I plan to work in a group with 3 other people, and we would each create a different issue of the magazine. Right now, I am thinking that we will each focus in on a different sport that we have connections to. This way it will be easier to schedule interviews and photo shoots if we have direct contact with our interviewees.
